Operation Silent Vigil

I. SITUATION

Enemy Forces:

Intelligence from local contacts indicates a significant insurgent presence across five key locations. Total estimated strength is ~400 fighters with mechanized and anti-air capabilities.

• Timurkalay: 80 fighters, 2 APCs, 1 SPG-9.
• Garmarud: 80 fighters, 2 APCs, 1 SPG-9, 1 MANPAD team.
• Imarat: 40 fighters, 2 APCs.
• SW of Imarat: 40 fighters.
• S of Garmsar: 40 fighters.
• Garmsar (Obj Gold): HVT-4 location. 120 fighters, 4 APCs, 1 MANPAD team.

Elements of 1-183rd Infantry.

II. MISSION

1-183rd Infantry conducts a covert insert and reconnaissance of the AO to confirm enemy personnel strength, vehicle counts, and weapon systems in order to facilitate future kinetic operations.

III. EXECUTION

Concept of Operations:

A stealth-based infiltration followed by multi-point surveillance.

• Infiltration: Elements will insert via ground or air no closer than 4km (4 clicks) from the AO boundary.
• Movement: Teams will move on foot in 2–4 man cells to minimize signature.
• Surveillance: Teams will occupy predesignated Observation Posts (OPs) overlooking Timurkalay, Garmarud, Imarat, and Garmsar.

Rules of Engagement (ROE):

• Strict No Fire: Do not engage unless absolutely necessary for self-preservation (Unit Self-Defense).
• Flight Restrictions: No friendly aircraft within 4km of the AO. Nap-of-the-earth (NAPE) flight is mandatory when within 6km of the AO to avoid MANPAD detection.

IV. SUSTAINMENT

Equipment & Loadout:

• Optics: Night vision scopes are available for all personnel.
• Thermals: Thermal goggles are available to Squad Leaders (SL) and above.
• Rations: Long-range rations (LRRPs) for extended duration.
• Load: Extra ammunition is required; however, prioritize weight distribution for a 4km+ foot movement.

V. COMMAND AND SIGNAL

Signal:

• Primary: Encrypted Radio (Long Range).
• Observation Reporting: Use standard SALT (Size, Activity, Location, Time) or SALUTE reports for all confirmed enemy sightings.

Command:

• Succession of Command per Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).
