OPERATION: Ghost Glance

1. SITUATION

• Enemy: The Islamic Front in the Heart (AFITH) is active in the AO. Intelligence suggests AFITH does not maintain a permanent garrison at the Northern Airfield. However, insurgent activity suggests the site is used for caching equipment, logistics staging, or electronic signatures. Expect light, decentralized resistance or IEDs/early-warning outposts.
• Friendly: 1-183rd IN remains based at the Combat Outpost (COP). No adjacent units are currently operating within the airfield perimeter.

2. MISSION

1-183rd IN conducts a reconnaissance-in-force and probing attack on the Northern Airfield to identify AFITH presence, destroy equipment of value, and assess the feasibility of future occupation.

3. EXECUTION

Concept of Operations

The operation will be conducted in three phases:

1. Infiltration: Movement from COP to Objective North via concealed routes.
2. The Probe: Conduct a reconnaissance-in-force. If the airfield is lightly defended or abandoned, the unit is authorized to breach the perimeter and secure the tarmac/hangar areas to search for AFITH equipment.
3. Exfiltration: Mandatory retrograde to the COP.

Coordinating Instructions

• End State: AFITH equipment destroyed or documented; unit successfully returned to the COP.
• Authorization: Tactical "Go/No-Go" for airfield entry is delegated to the PL on-site, based on enemy resistance levels.
• ROE: Standard ROE applies. Do not initiate contact unless the probe requires a forceful breach or self-defense.

4. SUSTAINMENT

• Loadout: Standard combat load + Demo kits for equipment destruction.
• MEDEVAC: Primary via ground to COP. Air evac on-call.

5. COMMAND AND SIGNAL

• Command: Battalion HQ remains at Southern Airfield.
