Statement of Act: On April 19, 2026, the disciplined, rapid, and courageous actions of the members of 2nd Platoon, Lancer, directly resulted in the successful security and preservation of a downed AH-64 Apache aircrew under imminent threat. Citation: For extraordinary heroism and outstanding performance in action on April 19, 2026. While operating in a highly volatile operational environment, 2nd Platoon, Lancer, received notification of a downed AH-64 Apache helicopter. Demonstrating exceptional tactical proficiency and physical readiness, the platoon immediately executed an accelerated movement over hazardous terrain to the crash site. Upon arrival, the platoon established a secure defensive perimeter, providing critical overwatch and suppressing cover for the vulnerable pilot crew until medical evacuation and recovery assets could secure the site. The rapid deployment, seamless coordination, and sheer determination of 2nd Platoon prevented the capture or injury of the aircrew by hostile forces. The valorous actions of 2nd Platoon, Lancer, reflect great credit upon themselves, their command, and the United States Army.

On that date, SGT Cactus exhibited exceptional tactical acumen, decisive command presence, and unwavering commitment to mission success under the most challenging circumstances. During the operation, our unit was confronted with an unprecedented cascade of multiple mass casualty situations that rapidly evolved in scope and complexity. Without hesitation, SGT Cactus assumed absolute control of the chaotic scene, establishing clear command relationships, prioritizing lifesaving actions, and directing both casualty care and tactical maneuver under continuous threat. Faced with overwhelming casualties and limited resources, SGT Cactus demonstrated remarkable foresight and efficiency. He quickly organized triage and evacuation points, guided personnel to critical tasks, and ensured seamless coordination with medical assets and adjacent units. His ability to assess fluid conditions and adapt plans in real time directly saved lives, minimized further injury, and sustained operational momentum. SGT Cactus’s leadership was evident not only in his technical competence, but in his ability to inspire confidence and calm in others. Subordinate Soldiers, medical teams, and supporting elements responded to his direction with precision and purpose—even under intense stress and life-threatening conditions. His actions reflect the highest standards of professionalism and personal courage.
